Alex Hijmans – story and setting, on Tuairisc.ie 4 March 2017

Alex Hijmans (author of Favela, Aiséirí and more recently An tearmann) has written a piece for Tuairisc.ie about settings in stories, and their importance in creative writing.

He also speaks about the imagined setting for his most recent novel, and how he came about constructing it as he wrote.

Ach an oiread le duine a mbeadh teach á thógáil aige, mar sin, ní mór don scríbhneoir a bheith cúramach agus suíomh á roghnú aige.

Ar ndóigh, ní gá go mbeadh suíomh gach scéil ar fáil san fhíorshaol. Smaoinigh ar an bhficsean eolaíochta, mar shampla, nó go deimhin ar scéal ar bith atá suite in aois eile.
