Conchúr Mag Eacháin was born and raised in Armagh. He went to Queen’s University, Belfast, where he did a BA and an MA in Irish and Celtic Studies. He received his PhD from the same university in 2009. After a post-doctoral fellowship in Lárionad de Bhaldraithe do Léann na Gaeilge in the School of Modern Irish, Celtic Studies, Folklore of Ireland and Linguistics of University College, Dublin, he moved to Fiontar, DCU, where he is currently a research editor.
His primary areas of research include the Revival period, linguistics, sociolinguistics, and Irish language lexicography. He has published articles on these subjects in academic journals such as Béaloideas, Éigse and Léann. Cois Life published his first book, Téarmaíocht Ghaeilge na hathbheochana, in 2014.
